Marseille Airport

The Marseille Provence Airport, also known by the acronym AMP, formerly Marseille Marignane, is an international airport, located in the municipality of Marignane in the Bouches-du-Rhône.

The airport is roughly equidistant from Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. Having developed until 2000 (especially with a flight over New York by UTA in the early 1990s), then it is adversely affected by competition from TGV on the axis Marseille-Paris (three hours for trains ), the slowdown in global air traffic after the attacks of 11 September 2001 and the bankruptcy of several operators as AOM, Air Liberté, Sabena and Swissair. In 2012 the airport knows the fourth largest growth of passenger traffic, with 12.7% to 8,295,479 passengers. In the summer of 2013, the airport offers 132 regular lines, or the wider service in France after Paris airports. 4th airport in France for passenger traffic and second provincial airport for cargo
